The gospel is central to every part of life. The gospel is about God, not us. The gospel is proclaimed on every page of the Bible. The gospel is about Jesus Christ. It is for all of these reasons that the name of our church is Reformation.
In the book of Acts we read that a small band of disciples turned the world upside down. 1500 years later a small band of faithful disciples did the same thing in a continent that was desperate for truth. We know that period of time as the Protestant Reformation. Nothing new was discovered. Old truths were re-discovered. The Bible was again placed as the sole authority for salvation, faith, and life—not the traditions of men. This return to the Bible reminded everyone that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, and to the glory of God alone. For hundreds of years these truths were obscured by the teachings and traditions of men. And just like in the time of the Roman Empire, a few faithful stood up and proclaimed the truth and God blessed their endeavors. Thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, even millions believed and were transformed.
It is now the early 21st century and it is time to move again. The church needs another Reformation. The world needs another Reformation. And we want to be a part of it. We want you to be a part of it.
We are also a Presbyterian church which means we are structured according to the God ordained means of authority and oversight. Man is not perfect and often does not do what is right. Misguided and misled churches have done much harm throughout the years. In the New Testament, God has declared that the oversight of the church is committed to faithful men called elders. These elders must have exemplary godly character, a desire to serve the church, and a determined commitment to the Bible as the only rule for authority in the church.
While it may sound obvious, we are a church. We are not a community group or a voluntary organization. The Lord Jesus Christ has promised to build His church and to use His church as the instrument to advance His kingdom here on earth. In the Bible, church is not a place to go. It is a group of people called out by God. We are the church.
We believe the Bible is the Word of God. The details of what we believe the Bible teaches are written out in time-tested, historical documents for all to read. No surprises here. In particular, we believe the central teachings of the Christian faith and life are helpfully summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Shorter Catechism, and the Larger Catechism. These documents are not infallible, but rather express the systematic teaching of the Bible.
We believe the primary reason every person exists is to bring glory to God and to enjoy God. One of the chief ways we do that is by worshipping God. We can worship God individually, in groups, and in families, but the greatest expression of our worship is when we gather as the church, the family of God on Sundays. Our worship service on Sunday is planned according to the instructions God has given us in the Bible. All aspects of our worship focus on the Bible as the Word of God.
As a Presbyterian Church we have real accountability to other churches. We are a church plant of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC). The OPC is a denomination committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Bible as the only rule of life and faith, and the advance of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
